Australian Goanna information and video - eating rats

These are three types of goannas that Dr. Abigail Fusaro (Mrs. Knee's daughter) saw in Australia. The first two are sand monitors from Lizard Island. Captain James Cook, the British explorer who "discovered" Australia, named Lizard Island for all of the goannas living there. The next two pictures are of a perentie (the largest lizard in Australia and 4th largest in the world) from Western Australia. The last photo is of a lace monitor in a Koala Sanctuary--Dr. Fusaro saw this goanna while she was visiting the Gems in 2009. It is Australia's second largest monitor lizard.
