Here are some pictures and a video of koalas at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, Australia. Dr. Abigail Fusaro (Mrs. Knee's daughter) visited the sanctuary while visiting the Gems in 2009. She even got to hold a little girl koala named Serenity!! See how they can jump (and listen to this male grunt)!

Mrs M saw these koalas at Alma Park Zoo, north of Brisbane.
Did you know that koalas are the only other animal besides primates (monkeys and gorillas) that has fingerprints?

Koalas have two thumbs on their front paws to help them get a strong grip on branches.

The second and third toes on a koala's back paws are joined together to form a claw that's called a grooming claw - perfect to use when a koala has an itch!

Koalas do not have very good eyesight but they have a great sense of hearing and an excellent sense of smell.
